The Origin Story Of

In 2016 I learned needed a break. I was saving up for the downpayment for a house. Since college, I have been living in Fargo, North Dakota. The day finally arrived. I saved money for a downpayment for my home. That day, was a -15 degree day in December. I asked myself, how much do I really want to live here? That thought was the beginning of the most significant journey of my entire life. Instead of buying a house, I took my savings and resigned from my job. I called everyone I have ever known and visited them, looking for the best place to call home. Five months and 20,000 miles later. I ended up very happy to be in Fargo. I have so many great people in my life, and this is such an amazing overall community. I didn’t want to leave. One of the big take aways from my trip was there is so much beautiful earth out there. I need to continue to travel, but I should also have a solid home base of operations to plan my future adventures from.

Fast forward seven years later. I happily stayed put in Fargo. I saved my money again, and I confidently purchased a house last year. Our entire work force has drastically shifted the last couple of years. I was sitting at my super fancy home office. I have a standing desk, dual monitors, plants, nerdy legos, and a coffee/regular bar for any needed drink to get me through zoom meetings. Something was missing with this new workforce revolution.

I can now work from anywhere. Why am I insisting on doing it from Fargo in January again? I needed an adventure! My trip before wasn’t fiscally sustainable. I looked into van life. To do van life right is really expensive as well. Expensive enough that I could not afford to do it alone, and that is where the idea for Rodemerica was born.

I have decided to build mobile workstations for people to rent. You don’t have to 100% commit to van life. You also don’t have to waste this new golden opportunity to travel while working. The most significant thing I have done in my life was to take a pause to explore the world. I have so many significant memories in significant places with significant people because of my trip seven years ago. I want to help people do the same thing for themselves.

Are you dreaming of going that is more scenic than North Dakota? I know I was. Let’s help you take a break to adventure.

The most significant thing I have done in my life was to take a pause to explore the world. I want to bring that significant pause to other people.
